FAQ
If you have any questions, please post them here!

In the sign-up form there's "fandom" and "claim", so if I were to claim the general show, do I sign up with "Fandom: ABC" and "Claim: ABC"?

Yup, so say you wanted all of Star Trek just have it as fandom: Star Trek and Claim: Star Trek, and I'll know you mean the whole/General series. :)

Do we choose from the 12 themes, or write all of them? And can it be a collection of stories, or just one?

You have to write all 12 themes as well as 3 Artist Choice (You get to choose what you want to write for the Artist Choice, there's no theme for those three) so a total of 15 stories. And they'll all be a collection of stories, so all should be able to stand alone. Hope that makes sense!

do we have to keep the same fandom/pairing through every month?

Nope! :) You can pick a different fandom/pairing every month, or you can just stick with the same one. (Or you can even do two/etc claims in one month if you want! :) )

What happens if you don't complete all 15 prompts?

Hmmm. What I'll probably do is have a post each month, where if you only did a few prompts you can still share what you wrote in that post. :)

Or there's a possibility that I may give a week or two extension where people can still finish up their fics.

And they'll all be a collection of stories, so all should be able to stand alone.

Hmm... so they can't be part of a series? Or comprise a series? I write mainly drabbles, and they often relate to each other. I've never done one of these with writing before so am not familiar with the conventions.
regularamanda: star trek: the enterpriseregularamanda on April 1st, 2011 01:58 am (UTC)
They can be a series, as long as each one can stand alone on it's own. So it can't just be one long "chapter" story, if that makes sense. Say you wanted to write all of your stories about different moments using the themes that happened in the seven years (or however long it was) between Terra Prime and These are the Voyages, that's completely fine. You just can't write one long story using all of themes...

As an example, in Stargate I loooove writing in the "Continuum" movie timeline, because it has so many possibilities. So if some of the themes were "Christmas" and "food", I could write one drabble/story with the characters during Christmas and how they deal with not being in the right timeline. And then I'd write another drabble/story about one of the characters always eating cereal because it reminded her of someone she loved and lost. What I *couldn't* do was write one story with it being christmas and they're all eat cereal...

...hope that makes sense!

...and because I'm kind of afraid I'm not saying this right, I was looking at your journal and you had this for one of your stories "Each part stands alone but together they are Jon’s reflections on his life with Malcolm" This idea would be fine to use over here, because they could stand alone. :)

Thanks very much! Yes, it makes sense to me, and thanks so much for taking time to find an example in my posts. That is pretty much what I had in mind for these.

I'm not too familiar with ratings. I understand G and NC-17, but what would make a story PG or PG-13?
regularamanda: Sam/Jack: black tees flowersregularamanda on April 2nd, 2011 03:08 am (UTC)
PG would be if there was bad language, maybe some violence that was just mentioned, PG-13 would be if there was constantly bad language, violence that was written in depth and also any gutter. :) Hope that helps!

If you're familiar with FF.net's fanfic writing (K, K+, T and M) you could also use those instead. :)

(Also your icon is way tooooo adorable! *squishes the icon*)

Thanks! ^_^

One more question though. XD If you claimed a character, can you bring in other characters with them in the story?
regularamanda: John/Aeryn: otp blendregularamanda on April 9th, 2011 01:58 am (UTC)
You're welcome! :D

You bet! :) Especially if you claimed a character you can have whoever you want with them in the story. :D

Ok, one question: Do the stories have to be beta'd? I'm just asking, because my beta is quite busy, and I'm never sure when she's able to send me back the fics.
regularamanda: Jack: fifth man green doubleregularamanda on April 2nd, 2011 01:29 pm (UTC)
Nope. :)

Though you have John/Elizabeth so if you'd need a quick person to glance over it/look for any typos/whatnot just give me a call, I'd be more than happy to do that for you. :D
Vicky: [Atlantis] Sparky - You&Mevickysg1 on April 2nd, 2011 01:32 pm (UTC)
Thanks!

And I just might. Seeing as I'm French, and I sometimes make stupid typos/grammar mistakes, it'll probably be needed! ;)

If I have picked a character, can that character be part of a story which has another centric character, so long as my character is also cenric? (Eg:- The point of view is another's, but my character is centric in the point of view)

Is the next round open to join, or do you have to have been in from the start? Any idea when the next round will start? Where do I sign up?

The next round is open to join, I will post the sign ups right now and the new round will start May 1st :)

For general claims, can we write crossover fics at all?
Ex) I have the Buffy fandom, can I write a Buffy Summers/Sookie Stackhouse fic? Or do I have to keep all content within the claimed fandom?
regularamanda: Aeryn: peacekeeper backregularamanda on May 1st, 2011 08:42 pm (UTC)
Sure! Just keep it to 1-3 fics, if possible. :) (You could always claim a crossover claim later down the line if you'd ever go over that for crossover)
foreverxkissesforeverxkisses on May 1st, 2011 09:21 pm (UTC)
Excellent! :D
I don't think I would go over 3 anyway, most of my crossovers happen by accident :P
foreverxkissesforeverxkisses on May 5th, 2011 06:23 am (UTC)
Can we change our claim (or further specify on our claim) mid-challenge?
